Life is About the Journey
How many times growing up did people ask what you wanted to be?
There are people who know their entire lives they want to be a doctor or a ballerina. Me?I remember as a kid I would switch my answer every year. Now that I'm older I've come to realize I'm not just one thing. I love learning new things and those things have shaped who I have become. Learning languages, toting around a camera, working in non-profits have given me my view of the world. I want to see the beauty in everything, I want to make our world a better place.
Whatever goal you have in your life, whatever God has planned for you I know this: Life is not about reaching your destination, its about enjoying the journey there. How much would it suck to go on a road trip from coast to coast but refuse to look out the window and see the spectacular views because we're so focused on getting there. All its going to turn out being is a really long car ride and by the time you get there you'll be exhausted and saying never again and that it's hardly worth the week of driving.
Photography to me is so much more than just taking a picture. Others might call it the attention-span of a goldfish, but I love being able to stop mid-step and take a picture of my niece playing on the beach, laughing with my cousins, or watching the sunrise. These moments are part of my journey and fifty years from now these are the moments that are going to keep making me smile again and again.
So, as a huge country music fan I leave you with this quote from the legendary George Straight, "Life's not the breaths you take but the moments that take your breath away"
